The positions denoted with an asterisk (*) will require the following physical abilities: sight, hearing, speech, lifting (assisting disabled adults with personal hygiene, getting in/out of wheelchair, in/out of bed, and in/out of vehicles), walking, bending or kneeling, and driving an Andrews Center vehicle. Positions have frequent physical demand requirements, which include flexibility, lifting and transferring skills, and full range of motion in all joints. Employee will be expected to perform physical agility activities, which relate to the essential functions of the job. Agility requirements include ability to scoot, bend, kneel, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., grasp and perform life saving activities such as CPR, PMAB and First Aid Training Modules.

Bilingual abilities are preferred for degreed positions.

An additional step may be awarded for each certification that enhances the position.

INTERNSHIPS

Students working towards a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree may complete practicum or internship hours with the Andrews Center, gaining valuable experience working with issues including severe mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and veterans issues. We have offices in Smith, Henderson, Wood, Van Zandt, and Rains county, and an intern could be placed at any of these sites, as needed. Applications must be submitted a minimum of one month before the beginning date of the Practicum or Internship. HIRING PROCEDURE

An Andrews Center application is required for consideration of employment. Resumes may be submitted, but will not be accepted in lieu of applications. Falsification of application information may be grounds for dismissal, if employed.

Applicants will be required to furnish proof of high school diploma or GED, and/or the original of any license, certification, or college transcript required for any position.

Once an application is received, Human Resources then routes the application to the appropriate supervisor for review. The individual supervisor makes their own contacts for interviews. However, you may contact Human Resources at any time to check the status of your application.

If an applicant is selected for a position, Human Resources must complete a series of background checks and past employment references. Criminal convictions and driving records will be checked through the Texas Department of Public Safety. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and Social Security card must be presented upon hire.

Applicants selected for a position will be required to submit to a Tuberculosis skin test and urine tests to identify the presence of drugs and alcohol.

Once all the appropriate paperwork has been completed, Human Resources will schedule a start date for the applicant.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Andrews Center is issuing a Request for Open Enrollment Application for the following services: Host Home. These services will be utilized in the Andrews Center Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Program. Andrews Center as the Local Authority will assemble a network of service providers to provide family foster care to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who meet qualification guidelines in Smith,Henderson, Van Zandt, Wood and Rains Counties.
