The Andrews Center can help answer these questions.
Mental Retardation is a condition which occurs before age 18 in which a person's intelligence and daily living skills are significantly below average. People with mental retardation often have difficulty living, working and playing in the community.
Only a psychologist or specially trained doctor can diagnose mental retardation using tests that measure intelligence and daily living skills. Although mental retardation occurs before age 18, testing to diagnose mental retardation can be done at any age.

There are a variety of services and supports available to people with mental retardation through the following:
- Community centers such as the Andrews Center
- State and federal agencies
- Private providers
