Make a difference... Be a hero.

By becoming an AmeriCorps member, you can help change the world, one life at a time. The Independence Project is a program of AmeriCorps National Service designed to help those in our communities with mental disabilities.

As an AmeriCorps member, you might be someone's mentor, or you might teach a person with a mental disability job skills, or even assist children with disabilities during their therapeutic horseback riding session.

Our program allows you to have a flexible schedule

while you serve full-time or part-time. While helping those in your community, you are provided with a living allowance, and in some cases free health care and child care allowances as well. And after completing your required service you will even receive an award to help pay for your education!

Most importantly, as an AmeriCorps member with the Independence Project, you can be a hero to someone with a mental disability.
